First of all, thanks for taking the time to have a look around my site. There’s so much on the web and I appreciate your visit, after all one of this websites purposes is to try to ensure people other than my immediate family see my photos! It is only through knowing what other people like (and dislike) that I can improve my photo taking and continue to fill the gallery pages with quality images. To this end I hope that you can also take time to leave me some feedback by going to your shout.

I guess at this stage I should introduce myself to those that don’t know me. I am a mixed practice vet working in the south of England, having graduated from Bristol vet school in 2006. I first started photography some time in 2003 when my girlfriend gave me my first proper camera, a Minolta X-300. This is a fully manual film SLR camera from the 1980’s and is a great piece of kit to start off with, and continues to take great images. One of my first major purchases after starting work was a Nikon D80, an all singing, all dancing digital SLR. The ability to check images straight after capturing them is a big improvement though I would still recommend anyone starting out in photography begin with a manual film SLR, it really forces you to learn the ins and outs of aperture, shutter speed, depth of field etc. Also you can get a really decent camera and lens combo for next to nothing. As time has passed I have also acquired a few other cameras, most notably an Olympus Trip 35 and a Lubitel 166 medium format camera

That’s enough for now; I look forward to hearing your opinions,

Alex
